While I’m still in love with my BDJ planner, I can’t help but think of the things I can improve on. I did a search online with the keywords “ultimate planner”. Saw several of them, all touting that they’re the best. Honestly, I’m a bit disappointed with the results.

For someone so into organizing her life, I still can’t find the perfect planner. The Belle De Jour planner comes pretty close though. Here are some sections I’d love to see next year:

• A whole section dedicated to financial planning — with something similar to My Ultimate Financial Planner.
• A section for stickies with built in multi-colored Post-Its. My sister and I made a super efficient training module covered with stickies on one side of the folder when we worked in a company together. The trainee appreciated it so much because she could use the little notes and stick them on her computer’s monitor.
• Pockets - I picked up a nice little flyer for a new spa when we stayed at the Somerset. I want to keep it with me so I can call the place if I suddenly feel like a massage. A pocket in the back portion would be nice.
• Tabbed dividers - For months and special sections, for easier browsing
• “Websites to Visit” added to the section on 2008 goals — Or while we’re at it, why not a whole page for websites to visit and books to read?
• Quick Contacts - Mobile number, Landline, YM/MSN/Skype, email
• Doodler’s Delight — Empty sections on the right of each odd numbered page of the daily planner
• Business Card Insert - Like the ones found on presentation folders. That would be better than writing my name on the planner. Also a good place to hold business cards so I could give them away to new contacts.
• Photo Inserts - There’s a nice photo section on the BDJ planner, but I don’t want to glue down my picture (I do want to keep it after the year is over). So little photo holders would be nice.
• A Section on Gift ideas - I buy lots of gifts each year. It would be nice to have a page on that with columns like: recipient, occasion, date needed and what to buy.

Hmmmm…maybe I should just come up with my own planner next year. I’m not very artistic though, so that’s gonna be a problem. One thing’s for sure: it’s definitely gonna be pink.
